The University of Cincinnati selected FRCH to help them envision a Preliminary Concept Design for the expansion of Nippert Stadium. The goal was to develop a scheme that would energize long term fans and potential donors and to showcase some of the potential connectivity that new expanded facility might create between the athletic and academic facilities.
FRCH saw this project as much more than just an addition of Skyboxes and Suites to Nippert Stadium. The stadium sits at the center of the University of Cincinnati Campus and the new design helps reinforce the UC mission of openness and accessibility by maintaining and enhancing vistas, view corridors and pathways around and through the stadium. The proposed design connects the new facility to adjacent signature campus architecture to allow for greater connectivity and interaction between academic and athletic departments.
Architecturally the strong singular curvilinear form of the suites and press box structure floats above the stadium making the new facility part of the signature campus architecture and part of the stadium architecture at the same time.
